"Proud to be an American"Artist's Notes: If you've ever sat in the grandstands at an NHRA National event and watched skydiver Mark Schlater bring Old Glory down from 8,000 feet, to the song "Proud To Be An American"... and you didn't get goosebumps or a tear in your eye, then you aren't an American! Working from a Les Welch photo of the dramatic scene, I took a litle artistic license by rotating the earth 90 degrees to put the setting sun behind Mark instead of over Brackett Field to the west.
