"Speed Sport Roadster"

Description:  Speed Sport roadster is one of the sleekest and "baddest" fuel burning creations of all time, and arguably the first successful mid-engined dragster.   Lyle Fisher, Red Greth and motor wizard Don Maynard campaigned the Chrysler-powered roadster to many victories over the slingshot dragsters of it's day.   "Ol Noisy" was known throughout the world of drag racing for it's unique exhaust note (eight "spaghetti pipes" out back), and for hauling ass!

Artist notes:  This one gets me "verklempt".  There is no better example of a fuel burning "Bad Boy" than the Speed Sport roadster!   The car and it's driver, Red Greth, are drag racing icons.   If someone were to ask me what I do.. I could show them this one image.

Reference photos of the car were shot at the 1998 NHRA Hot Rod Reunion, but something was missing.   The car had been restored in it's carbureted configuration, so with help from the Speed Sport gang in Tucson, several archival photos of the car with "kompressor", were e-mailed and the wheezer went on.

Artistic license then allowed me to shine just enough light into that mother of all air scoops, to see the throttle butterflies standing on edge.   For me it doesn't get any better, I hope you like it as much as I do.
